All but one child from a whole middle school class have gotten up in the night and ran out into the darkness. A month later, nobody has gotten closer to finding them yet. Local parents suspect the class teacher is involved in the disappearance, so she starts investigating on her own to clear her name.

If this movie were a “thriller”, you could probably guess the broad strokes of the plot already. But it isn’t. The story is told from the perspectives of multiple, changing characters - a structure that allows it to change tone and genre fluently. It is at times a mystery thriller, a tense horror movie, a cop drama and a slapstick comedy. It pulls this trick off seamlessly - which shouldn’t be possible but here we are.

The mystery aspect is engaging and the way it is unraveled keeps your attention throughout its runtime. Too often this ends with an unsatisfying conclusion - but not here. It sticks the landing and delivers a satisfying finale. I was grinning from ear to ear when the credits rolled.
